PD_BALTIC STORIES: Culture. Place. Identity
The visual guide "Baltic Stories" features 30 inspiring stories about cultural places and events in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, complemented by original works by emerging Baltic photographers. The book takes the reader on an exploratory journey through the capitals of the Baltic states and yet unknown places, offering an insight into diverse and unusual cultural initiatives. Examples include a street art festival in Tartu, Estonia, a theatre festival in Riga, Latvia and a radio station started by friends in Vilnius, Lithuania, as well as innovative museums, cutting-edge contemporary art spaces, green urban vegetable gardens and decaying but still relevant Soviet architectural heritage.
Baltic Stories is aimed at both independent cultural tourists and local policy makers, as well as anyone interested in effective and meaningful placemaking practices today. ♦️Additional information: www.balticstories.lv ♦️The book will be available on the evening for a special intro price - 20 EUR. 〰️ Authors and editors: Anete Ušča, Liāna Ivete Beņķe Photographers: Andrejs Strokins, Kristīne Madjare, Romanas Naryškin, Monika Jagusinskytė, Patrik Tamm, Kiur Kaasik Partners: Dovilė Gaižauskienė (Performative Design Association), Siarhei Liubimau (Laboratory of Critical Urbanism at the European Humanities University), Maria Derlõš (Linnalabor), Polina Ljaševa (Lasnaidee).
